Multiple Teams · Girls basketball v Wyandotte recap

The Woodhaven and Wyandotte girls basketball scored a combined 154 points on Friday making it one of the highest scoring girls basketball games in the history of the downriver league. What makes it even more impressive is the fact that both teams played tough, physical defense the entire night – nothing came easy. Baskets had to be earned as the Warriors and Bears ran the floor, attacked the basket, scored inside and out again and again. The final Woodhaven 93 Wyandotte 61. The halftime score of 43 to 31 is typical of a final score in most girls games around here – but not this one.  Whitley Currie went 10 for 10 from the field scoring 23 points and grabbing 7 boards, Cassie Breen had 19 points attacking the basket and hitting 4 straight free throws. Brie Brennan scored 12 hitting a couple triples with 7 rebounds, Salina Shubik added 10 on two deep 3’s, Hailey Liedel scored 9 on the post and at the line, Allison Manning scored 8 also netting two threes, Lyndsay Brennan tallied 5, Jaclyn Wallace and Erin Marvaso each scored three. The Woodhaven coaches congratulate the girls on both teams for playing the game the way it should be played – fast, running, shooting, tough defense, exciting for players, parents and fans. Our girls invade Allen Park on Tuesday for a 7pm match up with the Jags. Only 5 more regular season games left! Go Warriors!
