Multiple Teams · Girls Hoops Tourny Run Game #4

The Lady Warriors lead by coach Doug Simons have advanced to the State Class A Regional Finals for the first time in school history! In order to do so the Woo was given a tough assignment – beat the Saline Hornets on their home court. Woodhaven’s ladies have been into tough assignments this season – so they said Bring it! Woodhaven 60 Saline 58! Saline came ready to play and fought hard leading at halftime. The Warriors turned up the heat in the 3rd quarter busting threes, running the floor and playing pressure defense. The Hornets were stunned but then came right back with 3 point shots of their own – Game on! Neither team was backing down. Woodhaven began to get an advantage by pounding the ball down low for big baskets on the block – Saline soon answered by causing turnovers and converting them – with the game tied the Warriors came down the floor for a last second shot to win but the shot fell short. Post season overtime again! Woodhaven built a small lead in the OT period and Saline had a chance to win the game with a last second 3 point shot that fell off the rim. Game time! Woo wins!

Cassie Breen’s 3 big third quarter triples added to her 21 points total to lead the girls in scoring – Brianna Brennan scored 17, also rebounded 16.  Whit Currie played the best 3rd quarter of her life crashing the basket and the boards to get 9 points and as many rebounds. Allison Manning went to the glass getting 3 put backs scoring 7 in the process. Salina Shubik hit a big 3rd quarter triple finishing with 4. Hailey Liedel hit a big basket and also fought out 3 big rebounds in a great supporting effort. Erica Marvaso, Jaclyn Wallace, Lyndsay Brennan and Steph Suter played important and tough minutes to contribute to the victory. Erin Marvaso, Jess Koss, Miranda Ratuznik, Nat Frensley and Zaykia Robinson completed the total team effort by providing their teammates with the critical energy and enthusiasm necessary for a team to win a game at this point in the season. 15 playing as 1!

The next game will be the biggest game in the history of Woodhaven girls basketball as the Warriors take on state powerhouse Westland John Glenn for the State Class A Regional Championship. Game time is 7pm @ Saline. GO WARRIORS!
