The Patrick Henry 8th grade baseball team split a double header with Davidson yesterday.  In the first game, the Warriors came out strong and won 9-2.  Jacob Lemelin started the game striking out 7 in 3 innings of work allowing no runs.  Jacob Clark pitched the last 2 innings and added 2 hits offensively. With the bases loaded in the 2nd inning, Brad Janes had a double which drove in 3 Warriors.  In the nightcap, the Warriors battled in a see-saw game but eventually fell 8-5.  The team had 12 hits in the 5 inning game with Jacob Emery and Brendan Byrns each having 2 hits.  Kevin Mota had 2 RBI on a single in the 2nd.  The team finishes out their season today playing a double header at Grosse Ile.

The 7th grade baseball team split a double header with Gerish Middle School.  They won the first game 2-1 and lost the second game.  Both Gerish and Woodhaven came into the game undefeated.

In the first game Jimmy O, Justin Charron, and Jacob Outland all collected hits.  Southgate scored their only run in the first inning on a walk and a RBI single.  The score stayed that way until the last inning.  In their last at bat Jimmy O hit a single and stole second base.  With one out Justin Charron hit a double to the left field fence to score Jimmy O.  Justin got to third base when the next batter Brandon Wylie hit a sharp liner to the Shortstop which he bobbled to also allow Brandon to reach first base safely.  After Brandon took second base on a defensive indifference.  Drew Szczepaniak hit a sacrifice grounder to the second baseman to score Justin from third.  Drew who pitched the complete game finished the last inning to pick up the win.  Drew gave up 1 earned run on two hits with 6 strike outs. In the second game of the double header the team picked up their first loss of the season in a tough game.  Seth Chapman had one hit, one run and one RBI.  Brandon Wylie also had a hit in the game.  The team is now 8-1-1 on the season.  They face Grosse Ile today at Hall Rd Park in a double header.
