The 8th grade baseball team split their last doubleheader of the year yesterday with Grosse Ile. In the first game, the Warriors were led by Brad DeBoutte on the mound pitching 4 innings allowing 2 runs on 7 strikeouts and 1 walk. Brendan Holbird pitched a perfect 5th inning for the save. Jacob Lemelin had a 2 RBI double and Ethan Bronni had a single and an RBI in the 4-2 win. In the nightcap, the Warriors scored their first 6 batters of the game but could only manage one more run the rest of the way, losing 8-7. DeBoutte went 2-2 with a walk and scored 2 runs. Josh Przybylo had 2 RBI on a double. Bronni had a single and an RBI.
The 7th grade baseball team lost their second game of the year 12-2 to Wilson Middle School. They ended the season with a 10-2-1 record. Justin Charron, Shawn Acheson, and Matthew McGowan all collected hits in the game. Charron and Jacob Outland scored one run each for the Warriors. Shawn Acheson started the game and took the rd. loss pitching 2 and 2/3 innings while giving up 5 hits and 8 earned runs. Doug Baldensperger relieved him in the 3rd inning pitching 2 and 2/3 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits with 3 strike outs. Andrew Liangos entered the game in the 5th inning to finish out the game. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings allowing only one hit and no runs with 4 strikeouts.
The 7th grade baseball team improved their record to 10-1-1 winning both games of a double header against Grosse Ile. In the first game the team came away with a 6-4 victory. Justin Charron and Paul Reagan paced the offense collecting two RBI a piece. Charron was 2 for 2 with one run and Reagan was 1 for 1 with one run. Jimmy Owczaczak, Andrew Liangos, Shawn Acheson, and Reiss Varady also added hits in the game. Brandon Wylie pitched a complete game for the win. He scattered 8 hits giving up 3 earned runs with 3 strikeouts. In the second half of the double header the team came from behind in their last at bat for the second straight day to pick up the 9-6 win. Down 6 to 4 in the last inning, Jacob Outland singled to lead off the inning. He reached second base on a fielder’s choice by Paul Reagan. Shawn Acheson then drove in Outland with a RBI single before stealing second base. Reiss Varady walked to put runners on first and second. The next batter Brandon Stoddard reached first base on an error loading up the bases. Nash Hatcher then came through with a clutch single that scored two runs to put the team up 7 to 6. Doug Baldensperger then hit a triple into right field that scored two more runs finishing the scoring. Matthew McGowan started the game and pitched 4 and 1/3 strong innings giving up 4 hits, 4 earned runs with 6 strikeouts. Paul Reagan relieved him to pick up the win retiring the last 5 batters.
